I will be playing a short set at the Leap Sessions in the Salmon Leap Inn, Leixlip on Tuesday 9 August.
This is a really good fortnightly session which showcases singer-songwriters. There are usually about five acts per session and the quality is very high – almost all are recording artistes and many use the Leap Sessions as an opportunity to try out new material in an intimate setting. I played there last May and you can see a song from my set on the Videos page
Last time round I did a solo set, but this time I’ll have backing vocals from Ellen and Carla who will also be doing their own set on the night. And I’m delighted to say that my old bandmate from Sidewinder, Patsy Tracey, who is now the lead guitarist with the Rye River Band is also joining me for this set. It’s a long time since I’ve played with Patsy, and I’m a huge admirer of his playing, so I’m really looking forward to gigging with him one more time. And, for any old Sidewinder fans who might venture out to see us, I promise we’ll do Sailing Ships so you can hear Patsy’s fabulous guitar solo once again – nearly forty years on! Not only that, but I’m delighted to say that the brilliant lead singer of Sidewinder, Pat Silke, is also going to join us for Sailing Ships. It’s not quite a Sidewinder reunion, but it will be a bit special!
The Leap Sessions start at 9.30 and there’s no cover charge. You’ll find updates on the rest of the line-up, closer to the time, on their Facebook page.
